The first half of the final season of “Ozark” will arrive on Netflix on January 21 and the first full length trailer has finally arrived.
When “Ozark” season 3 ended, Marty and Wendy Byrde were shocked upon arrival in Mexico when cartel kingpin Omar Navarro embraced them after killing Helen Pierce with a bullet to her head. In the new trailer, it appears that Marty and Wendy are being celebrated by the cartel that they’ve been helping to launder money for several years while also attempting to keep their family safe at the same time.
The trailer reveals that Omar is seeking to get out of the cartel business and he’s hoping to strike a deal with the FBI that will allow him safe passage into the United States, which by extension will then allow Marty and Wendy to escape out from under his thumb.
Of course, Marty and Wendy also have problems to deal with at home after learning that Ruth Langmore has teamed up with her cousin Wyatt to help Darlene Snell begin to rebuild her heroin empire that was previously burned to the ground by her husband as part of a deal with the cartel.
Here’s the official synopsis from Netflix:
Freedom from the cartel is seemingly within reach, but fraying familial bonds may prove to be the Byrdes’ ultimate undoing.
Judging by the trailer, there’s going to be plenty of bloodshed to come before this series finally ends.
“Ozark” season 4 will be split into two parts with 7 episodes in the first half and then another 7 episodes in the back half with a release date for those episodes still to be determined.
For now, take a look at the new trailer for the final season of “Ozark” ahead of the series’ return on Jan. 21.
