The first look at “Scream 6” has arrived with Ghostface traveling from Woodsboro to New York City in the latest sequel…
Sitting on a subway in New York City filled with people wearing Halloween masks — including the same one that several murderers have worn — doesn’t exactly feel like the best possible situation.
But that’s exactly the setting for the new trailer for “Scream 6” with Ghostface traveling from Woosboro to New York City to continue tormenting the group of survivors who made it out alive from the film. The upcoming sequel is due out in theaters on March 10, 2023.
The cast returning for “Scream 6” includes Melissa Barrera (“Sam Carpenter”), Jasmin Savoy Brown (“Mindy Meeks-Martin”), Mason Gooding (“Chad Meeks-Martin”), Jenna Ortega (“Tara Carpenter”) as well as Courteney Cox (“Gale Weathers”) with Hayden Panettiere reprising her role as Kirby Reed from “Scream 4.” They’ll be joined by franchise newcomers Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving.
Of course, Weaving is a notable addition after she previously worked with the “Scream 6” directors on the horror-comedy hit “Ready or Not.”
A first look photo from the new film was also released on Wednesday via EW with an interesting take on the Ghostface mask, which looks somewhat beat up and old compared to other masks used by various killers. It’s safe to say that’s not a mistake.
“It will all make sense in the context that you see it in the movie,” co-director Tyler Gillett said about the mask. “That was another one of the really interesting risks and creative approaches in this movie. It’s meta in a different way, and the mask very much factors into that.”
Is it possible that the new killer managed to get their hands on one of the original masks from the first “Scream” film back when Billy Loomis and Stu Macher were the killers?
We’ll all have to wait and see — but for now check out the new “Scream 6” trailer and get ready for the film’s release on March 10, 2023 along with a new poster below.
