The third season of “Servant” arrives on Apple TV in January and a chilling new trailer has arrived along with the news that the show has been renewed for a final season…
Quite possibly one of the most underrated series on television over the past couple of years is “Servant” — a show created by Tony Basgallop that counts M. Night Shyamalan as the executive producer and showrunner — that follows a Philadelphia family that invites a strange young girl into their home to serve as a nanny to their infant child.
When “Servant” season 2 ended, Leanne (played by “Game of Thrones” star Nell Tiger Free) managed to return baby Jericho to the Turner family after he had been gone since the end of season 1 but only after she killed her Aunt Josephine, who was one of the leaders of a cult known as the Children of the Lesser Saints.
It’s been clear for some time now that Leanne has some sort of supernatural powers much like the entire cult she previously followed but it appeared at the end of “Servant” season 2 as if she had cut ties with her former family in order to join the fight with the Turners so they could keep the baby.
Now it appears that season 3 will set up another showdown between the Turner family and the cult that will likely be seeking revenge on Leanne after she killed Aunt Josephine.
Along with the chilling new trailer came word that “Servant” has been renewed for a fourth and final season, which was great news as announced by Shyamalan after he originally plotted 40 episodes to tell this particular story and now the series will get a proper ending.
“Happy to announce (in my very fitting Jericho t-shirt) that ‘Servant’ is greenlit for its 4th & final season,” Shyamalan wrote on Twitter. “I set the goal to tell 1 story in 40 episodes knowing there was no guarantee we would achieve it. It was a huge risk. Thanks Apple TV and ‘Servant’ cast, crew, and fans.”
