The new trailer for “Stranger Things” season 4, volume 2 has arrived with a look at the apocalyptic ending coming in the final two episodes…
“It is over. Now I just want you to watch … your friends have lost.”
Those are the ominous words from Vecna haunting the “Stranger Things” trailer for season 4, volume 2, which arrives on Netflix on Friday, July 1.
The final two episodes will encompass nearly four hours of total run time, which is part of the reason why the creators behind the series decided to split the season into two separate parts with the initial seven episodes dropping back in May.
When episode 7 ended, a major revelation was made as Vecna’s true identity was revealed — he was first known as Henry Creel before he became “One,” who was the first super powered child that worked with Dr. Martin Brenner at the Hawkins Laboratory. One eventually manipulated Eleven into removing a chip from his body that Brenner had implanted to suppress his powers, which allowed him to unleash his full abilities on the people who kept him captive for so many years.
After attempting to convince Eleven to join him as he sought to destroy humanity as a whole, Henry/One discovered he wasn’t necessarily the most powerful person with those abilities. Instead, Eleven managed to stop One but in the process she tore a hole between worlds, which sent him over to the Upside Down where his corporal form was ripped apart and he became Vecna.
Now Vecna has started crossing over between worlds as he kills people to gain strength for what has to be another confrontation with Eleven, who spent the majority of the first half of season 4 trying to regain her powers after losing them in the season 3 finale.
Judging by the new trailer, things are going to get even more dire as Eleven is convinced she needs to return to Hawkins to help her friends in the pending battle against Vecna and the Upside Down but Dr. Brenner just isn’t convinced that she’s strong enough yet.
Meanwhile, Steve and Nancy were still in the Upside Down when the first half of the season ended but it looks like they get out and prepare to launch a fight of their own again Vecna but even Robin hints that this feels like a battle that can’t be won.
There’s plenty to discover with the trailer with flashes to everything that’s about to unfold in these final two episodes — including what appears to be Vecna completely crossing over from the Upside Down back into the real world.
Take a look at the trailer and get ready for “Stranger Things” season 4, volume 2 on July 1!
