The first look at “The Mandalorian” season 3 has arrived with a new trailer that dropped on Monday night teasing the ever-expanding worlds surrounding Din Djarin aka Mando and his traveling companion Grogu aka Baby Yoda.
When we last saw Mando, he was helping his friend Boba Fett secure a position of power on Tattooine after he sought to take over the criminal empire that once belonged to Jabba the Hutt. Mando also reunited with Grogu after the young Jedi decided to leave Master Luke Skywalker and his training behind in order to rejoin his Mandalorian protector.
Now as season 3 begins it appears that Mando and Grogu are navigating a changing galaxy as the New Republic attempts to expand while remnants of the old Galactic Empire continue to resist. The trailer also teases Mando’s eventual trip to Mandalore as he seeks to return the Mandalorians home planet to its past glory following decades of conflicts after the Empire nearly destroyed everything.
Of course, Mando is also seeking his own redemption after he was unceremoniously excommunicated from his order of Mandalorians known as the Children of the Watch. He will also have to contend with rivals, which may very well include Bo-Katan Kryze, who wants to rebuild and rule over Mandalore yet she doesn’t possess the Darksaber — a weapon that symbolizes the savior of her home planet — because that belongs to Mando after he defeated Moff Gideon in battle.
Here’s the official synopsis for season 3 from Disney:
“The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.”
There will certainly be some new adventures mixed in there not to mention plenty of familiar faces — a few of which we see in the trailer.
