The new trailer for “The Many Saints of Newark” has arrived with even more familiar faces from “The Sopranos” in the highly anticipated prequel….
There are going to be plenty of familiar faces throughout “The Many Saints of Newark” as “The Sopranos” prequel takes a deeper look at the man who had the biggest influence on creating Tony Soprano.
The film primarily revolves around Tony’s “uncle” Dickie Moltisanti, who was mentioned numerous times throughout the award winning HBO series but he never actually made an appearance because he died years earlier.
The upcoming prequel will focus primarily on Dickie and his exploits a mob soldier and enforcer during a volatile time in the history of New Jersey including the infamous Newark riots.
The new trailer will also reveal even more characters from “The Sopranos” who will be making an appearance in the upcoming film including a first look at Sal “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero — previously portrayed by Vincent Pastore in the show.
There’s even a quick introduction to Dickie’s son Christopher Moltisanti, although it’s safe to say it’s hard to see an early resemblance with the great Michael Imperioli from “The Sopranos.”
Here’s the official synopsis for the movie from Warner Bros:
“Young Anthony Soprano is growing up in one of the most tumultuous eras in Newark’s history, becoming a man just as rival gangsters begin to rise up and challenge the all-powerful DiMeo crime family’s hold over the increasingly race-torn city. Caught up in the changing times is the uncle he idolizes, Dickie Moltisanti, who struggles to manage both his professional and personal responsibilities — and whose influence over his nephew will help make the impressionable teenager into the all-powerful mob boss we’ll later come to know: Tony Soprano.”
