The first look at “The Stand” has finally arrived.
The nine-episode limited event series based on Stephen King’s sprawling epic novel first released in 1978 will debut on CBS All Access on Dec. 17 and the debut teaser trailer sets the stage for the ultimate showdown between good and evil.
“The Stand” takes place following a global pandemic that wiped out 98 percent of the population and the survivors are now banding together in groups and inevitably clashing with each other. The story truly revolves around a woman named Mother Abigail, who is the personification of good while a man in black named Randall Flagg is everything evil all wrapped up into one dark soul.
An all star cast will make up the characters in “The Stand” including Whoopi Goldberg as Mother Abagail, Alexander Skarsgård as Randall Flagg, James Marsden as Stu Redman, Odessa Young as Frannie Goldsmith, Jovan Adepo as Larry Underwood, Amber Heard as Nadine Cross, Owen Teague as Harold Lauder, Henry Zaga as Nick Andros, Brad William Henke as Tom Cullen, Irene Bedard as Ray Bretner, Nat Wolff as Lloyd Henreid, Eion Bailey as Weizak, Heather Graham as Rita Blakemoor, Katherine McNamara as Julie Lawry, Fiona Dourif as Rat Woman, Natalie Martinez as Dayna Jurgens, Hamish Linklater as Dr. Jim Ellis, Daniel Sunjata as Cobb and Greg Kinnear as Glen Bateman.
Benjamin Cavell, who previously worked on series such as “Justified” and “Homeland” served as the showrunner for the limited series, which completed production long before the actual global pandemic brought filming to a halt earlier this year.
The first episode will arrive on CBS All Access on Dec. 17 with a new episode dropping each week on the streaming service.
