The full trailer for “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” has arrived as Michonne goes on a deadly mission to reunite with Rick Grimes….
It feels like a long time since Rick Grimes and Michonne — aka Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira — shared the screen together but the couple will attempt to reunite in the new series “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.”
The first trailer for “The Walking Dead” spinoff dropped on Wednesday ahead of the show’s debut on AMC on Sunday night, February 25 with a deeper look at the world these two are living in while trying to find each other.
Here’s the official synopsis for the series from AMC:
“The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live presents an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?”
It’s almost difficult to remember at this point what exactly happened to Rick but all the way back in “The Walking Dead” season 9, he was attempted to stop a herd from marching towards his home but he nearly perished along the way. In a last ditch effort to stop the herd from advancing, Rick blew up a bridge and his friends and family believed he died trying to save them.
In reality, Rick was launched by the blast before being discovered by Jadis, who rescued him and called for helicopter support from the group she works for known as the Civic Republic. He was whisked away and given medical attention but somewhere during his travels, Rick managed to leave a message behind that was eventually discovered by Michonne. So she set out on a mission to find her lost love and return him home again to both her and their children.
That’s where we pick up in “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” with the limited series exploring what happened to Rick after that fateful day on the bridge and Michonne’s desperate search to reunite with him.
