The first full length trailer for the long awaited series “Y The Last Man” has finally arrived with the show debuting on Hulu in September…
The long wait to finally see “Y The Last Man” transform from a comic book into a live action series is nearly over.
On Thursday, the first full length trailer for the upcoming series was released with the show set to debut on FX on Hulu on September 13. The attempts to bring “Y The Last Man” to the big or small screen has been a Herculean effort after the comic book from writer Brian K. Vaughan received rave reviews after it was first released but every previous version that tried to adapt the material up until now failed to come to fruition.
Now the new series from FX will tackle the story where a pandemic sweeps the globe killing everything with a Y chromosome, which means all males on Earth die in a sudden and quite violent manner.
Here’s the official synopsis for “Y The Last Man” from FX:
“Y: The Last Man traverses a post-apocalyptic world in which a cataclysmic event decimates every mammal with a Y chromosome but for one cisgender man and his pet monkey. The series follows the survivors in this new world as they struggle with their efforts to restore what was lost and the opportunity to build something better.”
The one man left alive is named Yorick Brown and he’s left to survive in a harsh and unforgiving world alongside his pet monkey Ampersand as they attempt to discover what exactly led to this cataclysmic event.
“Y The Last Man” stars Diane Lane as Congresswoman Jennifer Brown, Ashley Romans as Agent 355, Ben Schnetzer as Yorick Brown, Olivia Thirlby as his sister Hero Brown, Amber Tamblyn as Kimberly Cunningham, Marin Ireland as Nora Brady, Diana Bang as Dr. Allison Mann, Elliot Fletcher as Sam Jordan and Juliana Canfield as Beth Deville.
All episodes of the season will be directed by women and the production has a significant number of female department heads, including both DPs, the production designer, costume designer, casting director, editors, stunt coordinator and more.
