Zack Snyder’s ambitious space epic “Rebel Moon” will debut with two films on Netflix and the first trailer has arrived along with plot and character details…
Zack Snyder may be done with the DC film universe but he’s still planning on creating an massive, sprawling epic — except this time he’s going to a galaxy far, far away to do it.
The director’s latest film — or should we say films — “Rebel Moon” will release with two parts on Netflix with part one titled “A Child of Fire” and that will land on Netflix on December 22 with the follow up “The Scargiver” arriving on April 19, 2024.
The first trailer for “Rebel Moon” arrived this week with a look at the huge world that Snyder is creating along with the cast that will be traveling across the universe in this interstellar undertaking. Here’s the official plot for “Rebel Moon” ahead of the debut:
“Rebel Moon is about Kora (Sofia Boutella), a lone-wolf soldier who’s found community and connection on the quiet farming moon of Veldt. She’s a long way away from her former life fighting for the Imperium, the brutal interstellar royal empire bent on controlling the galaxy. But Kora’s violent past is dredged up when sadistic admiral Atticus Noble (Ed Skrein) comes to Veldt via a Dreadnought-class battle cruiser and stirs up deadly trouble on the orders of the Imperium’s tyrannical regent, Balisarius (Fra Fee).”
Sofia Boutella is best known for her past role starring alongside Tom Cruise in “The Mummy” reboot as well as the wild “Prisoners of the Ghostland” where she starred with Oscar winner Nicolas Cage.
As for the rest of the cast of characters, here’s a breakdown on all of the major appearance set for “Rebel Moon”
Ed Skrein (“Game of Thrones,” “Deadpool”) will play Admiral Atticus Noble, a nefarious Imperium enforcer
Charlie Hunnam (“Sons of Anarchy,” “The Gentlemen”) plays Kai, a mercenary pilot whose Tawau-Class freighter will prove invaluable to Kora’s quest
Michiel Huisman (“Game of Thrones,” “The Haunting of Hill House”) portrays Gunnar, a Veldt farmer who knows little of the galaxy outside of his small, quiet corner of the galaxy
Djimon Hounsou (“Shazam,” “Amistad”) plays General Titus, a hardened gladiator who once served the Imperium
Staz Nair (“Supergirl,” “Game of Thrones.”) portrays Tarak, a noble indentured servant who shares a bond with a flying creature called a Bennu
Bae Doona (“The Host,” “Cloud Atlas”) plays Nemesis, a cyborg sword master whose mechanical hands allow her to wield molten-metal weapons
Ray Fisher (Zack Snyder’s “Justice League,” “True Detective) portrays Darrian Bloodaxe, an insurgent who has been harrying the Imperium with guerilla attacks
E. Duffy (first feature) plays Milius, a refugee who seeks justice for their home — a colony that has already fallen to the Mother World
Anthony Hopkins (“Silence of the Lambs,” “Westworld”) voices “Jimmy,” an ancient robot knight that once defended a slain king but has now faded into a more peaceful existence
There will surely be a lot more revealed in future trailers but for now enjoy the first look at Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon” ahead of the first film debuting in December on Netflix!
