Eli Roth will drop his new film “Thanksgiving” in November with the first trailer delivering a bloody good time during the holidays…
Part of the fun of the Grindhouse double feature released back in 2007, which featured two films — “Planet Terror” by Robert Rodriguez and “Death Proof” by Quentin Tarantino — was all the little extras that came along with the presentation in theaters.
There were commercials and fake trailers directed by the likes of Rob Zombie and Edgar Wright as well as one titled “Thanksgiving” by Tarantino’s longtime pal Eli Roth, who has directed numerous horror movies in the past including “Hostel” and “Cabin Fever.” That film focused on a grisly slasher that cut through the turkey and cranberry sauce and got right to the killing around the Thanksgiving holiday.
The buzz around that trailer led to fans wondering if Roth might ever actually explore turning that idea into a real film — and now it’s actually happening 16 years later.
The first trailer for “Thanksgiving” has finally been released ahead of the film landing in theaters on November 17, just ahead of the real holiday. Here’s the synopsis for the movie:
“After a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy, a mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer terrorizes Plymouth, Massachusetts – the birthplace of the infamous holiday.”
The trailer features a killer pilgrim hacking and slashing through a number of victims with the cast for “Thanksgiving” including Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Nell Verlaque, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Dempsey, Rick Hoffman, Gina Gershon, Chris Sandiford, Tim Dillon and Tomaso Sanelli.
“Thanksgiving” was directed by Roth, who also co-wrote the script with Jeff Rendell.
