The first look at “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” — the sequel to the Oscar winning film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” — has just landed with a new trailer ahead of the June 2, 2023 release date.
The original film was almost universally praised as one of the best “Spider-Man” movies of all time while also introducing Miles Morales to a whole new generation of fans after the character was already a favorite from the ‘Ultimate” line of Marvel Comics.
The sequel will see the original cast return including Shameik Moore as Miles Morales and Hailee Steinfeld playing Gwen Stacy but there will be plenty of new voices joining the highly anticipated film due out next year. The cast also includes Jake Johnson. Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya. Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez. Greta Lee. Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone. Shea Whigham and Oscar Isaac.
Here’s the official synopsis for “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse“:
“Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar®-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.”
The film is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson from a script by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller and David Callaham, who wrote and directed the first film.
