Here are the winners from the 2020 Emmy Awards where “Watchmen” and “Succession” both took home numerous trophies on Sunday night…

It was a good night for “Watchmen” and “Succession” at the 2020 Emmy Awards.

The ceremony, which was a virtual show this year hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, saw the two HBO series lead both the drama and limited series categories with multiple wins for both.

“Watchmen” was nominated more than any other series this year after creator Damon Lindelof created a sequel to the iconic comic book written by Alan Moore that has been hailed as achievement in filmmaking. The series received a ton of attention just after the debut episode introduced the atrocities of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre to many people for the first time as it was depicted in the show and played a major role throughout the season.

Ultimately, “Watchmen” ended up winning for Outstanding Limited Series or Movie with Regina King taking home an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie along with her on-screen husband Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who won for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie. “Watchmen” also took home the award for Outstanding Writing in a Limited Series or Movie with Lindelof accepting the award while wearing a t-shirt asking everyone to remember the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.

“Watchmen” also enjoys the honor of becoming the first comic book adaptation to take home a top prize at the Emmy awards.

In the drama category, the awards were a little more widespread but it was “Succession” that took home the biggest prize for Outstanding Drama Series. Series creator Jesse Armstrong accepted the award while issuing a series of “un-thank you’s” including a couple of jabs taken at President Donald Trump as well as British Prime Minister Boris Johnson for what he called an ineffective response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Jeremy Strong also enjoyed a win for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Kendall Roy and during his acceptance speech he asked to share the honor with co-star Brian Cox, who was nominated in the same category for his role as Logan Roy.

Julia Garner repeated in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role on the Netflix series “Ozark” after first winning the Emmy award in 2019. “Ozark” was one of the most nominated shows at the Emmys but Garner was the only major winner to take home an award from the series.
