It’s another year long hiatus for ‘Westworld’ as season 3 won’t debut on HBO until 2020…
If you’re waiting on ‘Westworld’ season 3 to arrive, you’ll be waiting a little while longer.
The series wrapped up season 2 in 2018 and now season 3 will not return to HBO until sometime in 2020, although production on the show has already started.
When ‘Westworld’ first debut, the show was an instant hit for HBO but the elaborate filming schedule along with the work in post production made the show a very long series to bring to television. So after season one debuted, ‘Westworld’ season 2 didn’t land on HBO until more than a year later.
It appears that will be the case moving forward with ‘Westworld’ season 3 not expected to debut on HBO until next year.
While reviews for ‘Westworld’ season 2 were mixed, HBO programming president Casey Bloys doesn’t expect the show to lose any momentum just because it’s been off the air for over a year. If anything, he expects the anticipation for season 3 to grow that much stronger in its absence.
“I don’t feel it lost any buzz. If anything, more people are obsessing over it,” Bloys told Variety.
There’s not much yet known about ‘Westworld’ season 3 except the show will move away from the original theme park for at least some of the episodes after the conclusion of season 2 saw one of the hosts escape to the real world.
Several cast members have also been added to ‘Westworld’ season 3 including former ‘Breaking Bad’ star Aaron Paul, who is coming on as a series regular as well as Lena Waithe, who will also join the cast when the show returns in 2020.
