‘Y The Last Man” has already been cancelled by FX before the final few episodes of the first season have a chance to air….
With three more episodes remaining in the first season, “Y The Last Man” has already been cancelled by FX.
Series showrunner Eliza Clark made the announcement on Twitter while also adding that she hopes the show will find a new home after FX passed on making a second season.
“We have learned that we will not be moving forward with FX on Hulu Season 2 of Y: THE LAST MAN,” Clark wrote in her statement. “I have never in my life been more committed to a story, and there is so much more left to tell. Y: THE LAST MAN is about gender, about how oppressive systems inform identity. We had a gender diverse team of brilliant artists, led by women at almost every corner of our production. Producers, writers, directors, cinematographers, production design, costume design, stunt coordination, and more. It is the most collaborative, creatively fulfilling, and beautiful thing I have ever been a part of.
“We don’t want it to end. FX has been an amazing partner. We have loved working with them, and we’re sad YTLM is not going forward at FX on Hulu. But we know that someone else is going to be very lucky to have this team and this story. I have never experienced the remarkable solidarity of this many talented people. We are committed to finding Y its next home.”

Based on the comic book of the same name by writer Brian K. Vaughan and artist Pia Guerra, “Y The Last Man” has been in developmental hell for several years after there were numerous attempts to adapt the material into a film or television series.
FX eventually got the rights to “Y The Last Man” with plans to move forward for a full series but even that came with difficulties after the original showrunners for the series left the project before the first episode got into production.
The seemingly plagued series eventually found a new showrunner in Eliza Clark along with recasting some of the key roles including the lead character of Yorick Brown. “Y The Last Man” finally made its way to FX on Hulu earlier this but the reception hasn’t been what FX expected and now the show has already been cancelled.
It remains to be seen if “Y The Last Man” will find another home or not now that FX has passed on making season 2 of the series.
