“Yellowjackets” will return for season 2 on Showtime in March with the first small teaser for the show also revealed…
The Emmy nominated series “Yellowjackets” is set to return to Showtime on March 24, 2023.
The season 2 premiere will actually land on demand starting on March 24 for Showtime subscribers with the episode airing on TV two days later on March 26 at 9 p.m. ET.
“Yellowjackets” centers around wildly talented high school girls’ soccer players, who descend into savage clans after their plane crashes in the remote northern wilderness. Twenty-five years later, they discover that what began in the wild is far from over.
The first season featured two prominent timelines including the aftermath of the plane crash as the teen girls and their coaches attempted to survive in the wilderness without food or any real supplies to keep them alive until they are eventually discovered. The second timeline takes place 25 years later as the sins from the past start to come back to haunt the survivors with what actually happened out getting put back together like puzzle pieces.
There was also a small teaser video released with the season 2 announcements with an ominous symbol being carved into a tree, which savvy fans should recognize from the first season of “Yellowjackets,” which ended on quite a cliffhanger.
“Yellowjackets” season 2 has also added several new cast members including Lauren Ambrose, who will play an adult version of Van — a character that the series didn’t yet reveal as a survivor in the later storyline. Simone Kessell has also been cast as an adult Lottie — a girl who suffers from schizophrenia and begins receiving disturbing visions after running out of her medication following the plane crash.
Elijah Wood will also be joining the cast for season 2 as he plays a citizen detective looking into the case much like Christina Ricci’s character Misty, who was a survivor from the plane crash.
With the season 2 debut date for “Yellowjackets” now set, expect a trailer to come along any day now with the series set to return in March.
