The highly anticipated “Snyder Cut” of “Justice League” will finally arrive on HBO Max on March 18.
On Friday, the news was announced that director Zack Snyder’s original vision for the “Justice League” movie will be made available on the streaming service. The four-hour long film will feature a ton of new footage as well as recently enhanced effects as Snyder was afforded a $70 million budget to finish his version of the movie after a family tragedy forced him to drop off the original film, which Joss Whedon eventually finished.
Snyder has promised not a single frame of what Whedon shot will appear in his version of the movie.
The massive cut of “Justice League” came together following a determined campaign online with fans asking for Warner Bros. to release the Snyder Cut. Those calls were eventually joined by actors who starred in “Justice League,” who wanted Snyder to be able to finish the movie as he intended.
Along with the announcement of the release date on March 18, a new synopsis for the film was also revealed:
In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.
There were also three new teaser posters for “Justice League” released, which you can see below. The four-hour “Snyder Cut” will drop on HBO Max on March 18 for all subscribers.
