The 2016 Emmy Awards are in the books with ‘Game of Thrones’ wrapping up a second consecutive award for best drama series….
At the start of the 2016 Emmy Awards, ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘The People vs. OJ Simpson’ were the two series with the most nominations and ultimately they ruled the night with both winning numerous awards.
For the second consecutive year, “Game of Thrones” wrapped up the show with the award for Best Drama Series with executive producers and show runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss accepting the trophy along with the entire cast and crew.
“Game of Thrones” also took home awards in writing and directing for the penultimate episode from season 6 titled “Battle of the Bastards”.
“The People vs. OJ Simpson” nearly cleaned house in the Limited TV Series or Movie category after winning the Best Show as well as Best Actor for Courtney B. Vance, Best Actress for Sarah Paulson and Best Supporting Actor for Sterling K. Brown.
Rami Malek also picked up his first Emmy Award for his role as Elliot Alderson on ‘Mr. Robot’, which was nominated after an outstanding freshman season on the USA Network.
