Jack Bauer will return in a new 12-episode limited series titled ’24: Live Another Day’ and we’ve got all the details you need to know about the series…
If you’re a fan of international, political, military and action thrillers with a central theme of kicking ass then Jack Bauer’s return to television should be a welcome treat.
It’s been nearly four years since Kiefer Sutherland graced our screens as the raspy voiced operative who is apparently unkillable and also lovable at the same time. While talk for the last few years has centered around a ‘24‘ movie, the creators behind the show instead opted to return and do a new limited series instead running for 12 total episodes to tell the latest tale of Jack Bauer and his hero of the day antics.
So here’s everything you need to know about the series before it fires up in a few short months
24: Live Another Day Debut Date
Jack Bauer officially returns on May 5 at 8pm ET/PT
Last Time We Saw Jack…
He was fleeing the country after almost assassinating the Russian president after first taking out several of his key operatives. This was all done well outside of the law so when 24 season 8 ended, Jack was leaving his home country and being pursued by both American and Russian forces
Where Is Jack Now?
Since exiting the U.S., Jack has been on the run and as the series picks up, he will be in London still hiding out from authorities.
Why is Jack Back?
The President of the United States happens to be in London for a meeting with the Prime Minister when Bauer receives some startling intelligence that he has to give up. What that secret is remains for the premiere.
Who Else is Coming Back?
From previous seasons of 24 we know Mary Lynn Rajskub is back as Chloe, William Devane is back as James Heller, but he’s the president now. Kim Raver also returns as Audrey Raines, now awake from her comatose state and working in her father’s presidency. Producers have teased that we may see an appearance from Elisha Cuthbert as Jack’s daughter Kim but if it happens it won’t be until late in the season.
Who is New?
Yvonne Strahovski — The actress most known for her roles in ‘Chuck‘ and ‘Dexter‘ will play CIA operative Kate Morgan, who has been tasked for the last few years to find Bauer while he’s been a fugitive.
Michael Wincott — plays Adrian, who is a hacker
Judy Davis — playing the wife of a terrorist who has been killed. All signs point to her being the main antagonist when the season begins
Is Chloe Still a Good Guy or Did She Break Bad?
According to several reports, Jack’s oddball sidekick Chloe is no longer a part of any government agency and instead has become an ‘Edward Snowden’ type whistleblower stopping heinous acts from happening all over the world. She’s drawn back into Jack’s web when he surfaces with the intelligence he receives, but will she want to help him or stop him?
Is 24: Live Another Day Still Real Time?
One of the coolest concepts of 24 was that it was always shot and shown in real time. 24 hours in a day, 24 episodes. Granted a lot of shit always happened in that 24 hour period but it was a cool concept nevertheless. So since this series is only 12 episodes how is is still being called 24? Well, according to producers the show will still be real time except the gaps will be filled with ‘two hours later’ episodes airing throughout the course of the season. All told, 24 hours of story will happen over the course of 12 episodes.
What About the 24 Movie That Was Rumored?
It’s not dead in the water but obviously shelved while doing this show. There were allegedly dozens of road blocks that stopped the film from actually happening so this new series is a great alternative. Sutherland himself acknowledged that the movie isn’t dead, but it’s also not on front runner status currently.
That should be everything you need to know about ‘24: Live Another Day‘ before the May 5 premiere. Of course as shooting fires up and more casting news is released, this could certainly be updated. Stay tuned to Nerdcore Movement for all your Jack Bauer ass kicking needs.
