In the Heroes Reborn recap, Tommy gets drawn into a bad situation, Joanna returns and Erica finally captures her prey…
By Damon Martin — Editor/Lead Writer
Well following two pretty solid weeks of Heroes Reborn where time traveling became a great way to tell the back story for this season of the show, the latest episode titled ‘Sundae Bloody Sunday’ returned to the very worst of the series with pointless stories and even worse performances from the actors and actresses involved.
It’s particularly disappointing considering that it looked like Heroes Reborn was finally going to transform into a more watchable series after two really solid episodes, but alas this latest may have been one of the most terrible yet.
If you missed it or just want to catch up after what happened in the latest episode, here’s our recap for Heroes Reborn ‘Sundae Bloody Sunday’….
TOMMY
So Tommy has been told all of the things he forgot after his brain was wiped clean by Casper after they escaped the Renautas security forces sent to kidnap him away from his mother and stepfather, Hiro Nakamura. Tommy knows his mission and when his grandfather Noah arrives, he finds out even more as he realizes that he’s going to serve a vital part in saving the world.
Noah believes that Tommy’s new relationship with Emily is a distraction or she might get him into danger so he sends Casper to pay her a visit and wipe her memory.
Ultimately, Casper opts to leave her alone because she’s clearly in love with Tommy and he deserves some happiness, right? Well before he can leave the ice cream parlor, Joanne shows up and holds them both hostage before making a call to Tommy to get him there as well so she can assassinate the whole group.
Casper tries to work his magic but Joanne never touches once of his magic pennies so his mind wipe trick doesn’t get to her (seriously, how stupid is that power? Whoever was in charge of making the abilities for this season should never, ever work in a comic book story again).
A few miles away, Luke and Malina are making their way to town to visit Tommy but they end up running across the ice cream parlor and when Luke hears a gunshot, he tells his new friend to wait in the car while he checks it out.
Inside, Joanne kills Casper (wish it was the other way around because Joanne is quite possibly the worst character in the history of this show and that’s saying a lot!) and Tommy shows up to save the day and learns in that moment how to freeze time (because of his mind wipe, he forgot he can time travel and freeze time). He saves Emily and stops Joanne before spotting Malina slipping through the back door. Luke is there as well casting some fireballs from his new found power as he tries to stop his wife as well.
Long story short, Tommy and Emily get away, Luke goes after Joanne, who ends up getting into a car with one of the Harris clones.
CARLOS
Carlos has been the most pointless and awful character this entire season and his latest adventure doesn’t get much better.
It turns out Dearing wasn’t betraying him when he fed him some kind of liquid that would apparently make him test positive for being an evo. They get into Sunstone Manor and while Dearing waits for his payment, Carlos breaks free and starts searching the facility for his nephew and priest.
All of the evo’s inside are docile and in no hurry to escape thanks to Sunstone’s director — Matt Parkman, who is using his mind control abilities to keep everyone in line. Eventually, Carlos crosses Parkman, who sends him spiraling into madness as he relives his last moments in Iraq during the war.
Parkman is evil now, Dearing gets captured as well and now Carlos is crazy.
TAYLOR
Erica’s daughter meets up with Hero Truther — the hacker group that’s trying to take down Renautas — and she soon runs into their current leader, The Haitian, who is very much alive after Noah’s time traveling adventure wiped out the part where he killed him during the premiere episode.
The Haitian is looking for information to find the real leader of the Hero Truthers — Micah Sanders, who was kidnapped months ago. Taylor recognizes the place that he’s being kept and it’s Sunstone Manor — the same place where Carlos has just been taken as well. It looks like these two stories are about to converge in the near future.
TOMMY AND MALINA
After zapping out of the ice cream shop, Tommy and Emily reappear at the hospital where his mother is staying, but they immediately run into Quentin, who remember now works for Renautas because of the time travel incident where he ended up saving Erica Kravid’s life after Noah shot her.
Quentin holds Emily hostage and tells Tommy to come with him or else. Tommy tries to zap himself out of there, but Quentin’s sister Phoebe is shadow casting (another remarkably stupid power) and no one’s abilities are working.
Tommy agrees to go with them for the sake of saving Emily and they all leave. It’s here that Noah leaves after losing his grandson to go back to the ice cream parlor to find out what happened with Casper. It’s there that he’s reunited with his granddaughter Malina, who was left behind after Luke went after his crazy wife.
Tommy finally meets Erica, who invites him to dinner and begins to explain how he’s going to help save the world.
Flash forward more than 7,000 years into the future and the world has become a barren, desert wasteland and sitting directly in the middle of it is Miko — another character who died yet like every Heroes series before it, no one can ever actually stay dead — and she’s looking out onto the plain and sees a few structures out in the distance.
Who knows what’s out there, but apparently we’ll find out next week when Tommy takes Erica to the future to see what becomes of the world after the magnetic polls switch and the world falls into an apocalyptic situation.
