Marvel’s Iron Fist Gets Scott Buck as a Showrunner for New Netflix Series

The first piece of the puzzle for Marvel’s Iron Fist is in place as Scott Buck has been named showrunner…..

Following the success of both Daredevil and Jessica Jones on Netflix and with Luke Cage already in production, Marvel has officially hired Scott Buck to act as showrunner for the fourth and final television series titled Iron Fist headed to the subscription based service.

Buck is best known for his work on Dexter, Six Feet Under and Rome and he’s close friends with Melissa Rosenberg, who is the lead showrunner over at Jessica Jones.

“Scott came in with a take on Iron Fist that quite simply knocked us off our feet,” said Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “We always look for the most creative minds in the field to help us bring our heroes to life, and with Scott we’ve found someone that can deliver yet another great series in the ongoing story of The Defenders.”

The Defenders will be the culmination of all four series coming together for one big special/miniseries that will also air on Netflix.

Iron Fist is a well known character throughout the Marvel Universe and has teamed up with Luke Cage in the past as well. In the comics, his lawyer is named Jeryn Hogarth — a character that was adapted for Jessica Jones named Jeri Hogarth played by Carrie Anne-Moss. Chances are that connection isn’t an accident.

A brief description of Iron Fist below:

Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

The Iron Fist from the comics is a pretty mystical character so it’s hard to say just how far the television series might go to adapt that but we now know the team to bring him to life is finally coming together. With a showrunner hired, it probably won’t take long for Buck and Marvel to get to work on casting the man who will eventually become Iron Fist.

While no date has been announced, it’s likely Iron Fist will debut on Netflix sometime in 2017.
