Ahead of the opening of The Hateful Eight, check out the first score released from famed composer Ennio Morricone….
Back in July at San Diego Comic Con, Quentin Tarantino announced that famed Italian composer Ennio Morricone would be contributing an original score for his film The Hateful Eight.
Morricone, who is best known for some of most memorable scores in Western history including works with The Good, The Bad and The Ugly as well as Once Upon a Time in the West, hasn’t done original music for the genre in nearly four decades — until now.
Tarantino is a massive fan of Morricone and has used his music in several of his past films but now he’s been able to lure the famous composer back to the Western genre for his upcoming film The Hateful Eight.
The opening score from the movie titled — “L’Ultima Diligenza di Red Rock” — was released on Tuesday and you can hear it here for the first time. From the sound of things, Morricone hasn’t lost his touch at all for creating haunting, sweeping scores that fit perfectly over the Western genre.
Check out the opening track below — The Hateful Eight lands in select theaters on Christmas Day and nationwide on Dec. 31.
