The upcoming Star Wars Han Solo spinoff that will see someone other than Harrison Ford in the famous role has narrowed the list of actors down to just a few …
It’s hard to imagine anyone other than Harrison Ford playing Han Solo but as Disney and Lucasfilm begin work on the new Star Wars spinoff feature on famous smuggler during his younger days, a new actor will be cast for the part.
While the featured film won’t even get into production until 2017, Kathleen Kennedy along with the movie’s directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have narrowed down their list to a few big names who could be vying for the part of Han Solo.
The list of actors includes:
Miles Teller
Dave Franco
Logan Lerman
Ansel Elgort
Jack Reynor
Scott Eastwood
Emory Cohen
Blake Jenner
Now these are just a few names that are on the short list with about 12 total named believed to be in the running to land the coveted role to play Han Solo in the new featured film due out in 2018.
The role could go to one of the actors sooner rather than later because there’s a rumor floating around that the young Han Solo could potentially make a brief appearance in the upcoming spinoff film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story that takes place before the events in Star Wars: A New Hope as a group of spies attempts to wrestle away plans to the Death Star.
There’s still no confirmation on that actually happening but it could explain why casting is happening so far away from shooting for the Han Solo feature film.
Casting sessions with the actors are expected to take place in the next couple of weeks with a final decision being made shortly thereafter. Rogue One still has several weeks of shooting left so if an actor is cast in time, it could play into the schedule with Han Solo making an appearance in the movie.
Either way it appears we could just be weeks away from a new actor stepping into Han Solo’s shoes for the first time in more nearly 40 years.
