Check out an animated feature telling the history of Robert’s rebellion from Game of Thrones that lead to the end of the Targaryen reign over Westeros…
When Game of Thrones first started back in season 1, the king was Robert Baratheon and he had been sitting on the Iron Throne for approximately 17 years, but how did he get there in the first place?
Tales of Robert’s rebellion have been dabbled throughout the series, but the events took place long before Game of Thrones actually happened but now we’re getting a closer look through a new animated feature that will be part of the upcoming blu-ray release for season 5.
The animated feature shows the events that led to Robert eventually leading an uprising against the Targaryens and his ultimate victory when he defeated and killed Prince Rhaegar Targaryen also known as “The Last Dragon”.
The video features a voice over from Ser Barristan Selmy (Ian McElhinney) as he tells the tale of Robert’s rebellion in a truncated form but also giving some important back story to the current climate that still haunts Westeros to this day.
If you want more information on Rhaegar Targaryen — a character often talked about in Game of Thrones but never actually seen — check out our in depth history about him from a previous edition of Send the Ravens.
For now, check out the animated feature for Robert’s Rebellion ahead of the Game of Thrones season 5 blu-ray due out later this year.
