Warning the following will be announced at San Diego Comic-Con so if you want to be surprised the following has spoilers.
More details were released regarding Bryan Singer’s upcoming X-Men movie Days of Future Past. The plot involves a certain X-Men character going back in time to 1973. That character has now been revealed as Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. Kitty Pryde (played by Ellen Page) will send Wolverine back in time to warn the X-Men about a post apocalyptic future ruled by sentinels and their creator Bolivar Trask played by Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage.
While Wolverine interacts with the young X-Men crew played by James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michael Fassbender, something happens to Kitty during the time-travel trance and Wolverine is trapped in the past. The young X-Men will have to find a way to send Wolverine back to the future. I highly doubt a wacked out scientist and a Delorean are involved. Could this be the storyline where Anna Paquin’s power-copying Rogue comes back into the picture?
Oh wait there is more news. According to Vulture.com there is another villain who will be making an appearance in the newest X-Men film. Australian actor Josh Helman has been casted to play a young Bill Stryker. If you remember Brian Cox played an older Stryker in X2-X-Men United.
While Bolivar Trask will most likely be the bad guy in the future timeline it appears that the young Stryker will be the antagonist in the 1973 storyline. Expect most of the X-Men cast like Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian Mckellen, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, and Shawn Ashmore to have parts in the film too.
There will no doubt be more plot details revealed at San Diego Comic-Con on July 20th, but if you are curious, pick up the 1981 comic book issues #141 and #142 of The Uncanny X-Men written by Chris Claremont.
X-Men Days of Future Past is scheduled to be released in May of 2014. Nerdcore Movement founder Damon Martin will be at SDCC, so stay tuned for more breaking news on X-Men and other goodies later on this week.
