It looks like the casts from ‘The Flash’ and ‘Supergirl’ will need to brush up on their singing with a musical planned for this season…
There’s a lot of anticipation for the upcoming crossover that will see ‘Arrow’, ‘The Flash’, ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ and ‘Supergirl’ all intertwine in one big story on the CW but an announcement made on Thursday may have trumped it.
According to executive producer Greg Berlanti, plans are in place for ‘The Flash’ and ‘Supergirl’ to do a musical crossover episode during the second half of their respective seasons most likely in early 2017.
“There will be a musical crossover; there will be a paired episode between Supergirl and Flash during the back half of the year,” Berlanti said on Thursday. “Some of you know my personal love of musicals and actors who have been in them.
“We have a number of actors who can sing across all the shows and they will be making very exciting appearances during the back half of the year.”
Berlanti said he’s just now fleshing out the idea for the musical episode, but it’s not likely there will be any original music involved — which means Joss Whedon still has one up on him after crafting all the songs for the famous ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ musical episode titled “Once More with Feeling”.
Berlanti said he is looking for suggestions, however, for songs that could be included in the upcoming crossover episode.
It’s certainly no surprise why Berlanti chose ‘The Flash’ and ‘Supergirl’ for the musical crossover episode considering Melissa Benoist (Supergirl) and Grant Gustin (The Flash) both starred on the FOX show ‘Glee’.
Now it looks like they will both get to sing some new songs while dressed as superheroes.
Both ‘The Flash’ and ‘Supergirl’ return with new episodes on The CW in October.
