Margot Robbie will reprise her role as Harley Quinn for a new film titled ‘Gotham City Sirens’…
Margot Robbie just can’t get enough of Harley Quinn.
After debuting as the character this past summer in ‘Suicide Squad’, Robbie signed onto her own solo Harley Quinn movie and she will now also play the part in the new film ‘Gotham City Sirens’.
The movie will be directed by David Ayer, who was also at the helm of ‘Suicide Squad’.
‘Gotham City Sirens’ was originally a comic book series featuring some of the famous female villains from Batman’s rogue gallery including Harley Quinn, Catwoman and Poison Ivy. There’s no word if the film will feature the same characters although neither Catwoman or Poison Ivy have appeared in the new DC Extended Universe since ‘Man of Steel’ relaunched the shared universe of films.
Geneva Robertson-Dworet — who is currently working on the ‘Tomb Raider’ reboot script as well as ‘Sherlock Holmes 3’ — is expected to pen the script for ‘Gotham City Sirens’.
There are still plans to develop a ‘Suicide Squad’ sequel as well as an spinoff for the character Deadshot, played by Will Smith in addition to the Harley Quinn movie. It appears for now, ‘Gotham City Sirens’ is on the fast track to get into production but there’s no word on a potential release date.
