‘The Flash’: Rick Cosnett Announces His Return During Season 3

A famously dead member of ‘The Flash’ cast is returning during season 3…

Rick Cosnett — who portrayed doomed cop Eddie Thawne during the first season of ‘The Flash’ as well as a brief appearance in season 2 — will be returning in some capacity during season 3.

Cosnett made the announcement via Twitter on Monday.

There’s no word when Cosnett will reprise his role as Eddie Thawne, but it’s an interesting twist considering all that’s changed this season due to Barry creating the ‘flashpoint’ timeline where he altered the past and changed the present.

Back in season one, Eddie sacrificed himself to ensure that the evil Eobard Thawne — a future relative of his — would never be born, thus negating all the evil he unleashed on Central City.

When Barry traveled back and created ‘flashpoint’, he returned to present day with things almost back to normal but plenty of changes from the world he first left. Meanwhile, Eobard Thawne aka the Reverse Flash is alive and well on ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ so perhaps Barry’s change to the past allowed Eddie to stay alive but in a different capacity from his time on the Central City police force?

Whatever the reason, Cosnett will be popping up in ‘The Flash’ season 3. The show returns for the second half of season 3 on January 24.
