Spock’s father will be a central character in ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ with a familiar face from ‘Gotham’ and ‘True Blood’ playing the part…
James Frain — best known for roles in ‘Gotham’, ‘True Blood’ and ‘True Detective’ — has been cast as Sarek, better known as Spock’s father, on the new series ‘Star Trek: Discovery’.
According to reports, Sarek will play a major part in the new ‘Star Trek’ series, which will debut on CBS before moving over to CBS All-Access, the network’s online digital streaming service.
Now Frain’s casting also comes with a bit of disappointing news about ‘Star Trek: Discovery’.
It appears production on the highly anticipated new show will kick off next week, but the premiere date for ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ is being pushed back from the original time in May.
While there’s no set date for the debut, it appears ‘Star Trek: Discover’ will likely get pushed back until the fall with the same plan set with the first episode airing on CBS before the subsequent episodes move over to CBS All-Access.
Part of the reason why the show is being delayed is due to Sonequa Martin-Green’s current role on ‘The Walking Dead’ before she will become the featured cast member on ‘Star Trek: Discovery’. It seems CBS executives would rather wait until ‘The Walking Dead’ finishes airing before promoting Green’s role on ‘Star Trek: Discovery’.
As of now, Green is still expected to keep her role with ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ but fans of the ultra popular zombie series on AMC know that could change at a moment’s notice.
So for now look for ‘Star Trek: Discover’ to debut later this year on CBS.
