In the latest ‘Supergirl’ recap, Jeremiah Danvers returns home for the first time in 15 years but something is not quite right with his arrival…
By Damon Martin — Editor/Lead Writer
It’s been 15 years since Jeremiah Danvers sat down at the dinner table with his daughters but after a long tenure as Project Cadmus’ resident enslaved scientist he finally returned home to be with his family.
Unfortunately, Jeremiah’s timely arrival doesn’t come without some suspicion from Mon-El, who is the only person without an emotional attachment to the long lost Danvers’ patriarch. The convenient timing of Jeremiah’s return coupled with the revelation that Cadmus is building a nuclear fusion bomb doesn’t sit well with Mon-El, but he might be the only person with any suspicions while everyone else is clouded by happiness that he’s back.
This all unfolds after the first night Mon-El spent at Kara’s apartment as their relationship starts to bloom, but will this turn of events spoil their party before it even has a chance to begin?
Let’s find out as we recap the latest episode of ‘Supergirl’ titled ‘Homecoming’…
Father’s Day
As Mon-El wakes up in bed he finds himself alone because his new girlfriend just happens to be Supergirl so while he’s been sleeping, she’s been out stopping a number of bank robberies and other crimes around National City all before breakfast. While Mon-El wants to spend the day in bed with Kara, she has more concerns about how they are going to handle this relationship while working together at the DEO.
When Kara was nearly involved with James Olsen, just about everybody in her life had an opinion on the matter and this time she would rather keep things private at least for a little while longer. That decree lasts for all of 10 seconds once they arrive at the DEO as Mon-El spouts off to the entire room that he’s dating Kara and they are head over heels for each other.
As much as Kara would like to be angry with Mon-El after defying her wishes, they’ve got bigger problems when a Cadmus transport is discovered traveling near National City, which brings out the troops in full force to stop them and find out what their plan of attack is this time.
After crashing the convoy, Kara rips through the final tractor trailer and finds the precious cargo that was being transported — and it’s none other than her adopted dad Jeremiah Danvers!
Back at the DEO, Jeremiah gets patched up while trying to reconnect with his daughters. His reunion is then amplified when his wife Eliza shows up and the two of them embrace for the first time in nearly two decades. As happy as everyone seems to be with Jeremiah back, he’s still got some bad news to pass along.
According to Jeremiah, Cadmus harnessed the energy that they zapped from Supergirl back several episodes ago when they forced her to fire her heat vision into a mask that drained her of her powers but also seemingly gave them an excess of nuclear energy. Cadmus has now transformed that energy into a bomb that they plan to unleash on National City to wipe out all of the aliens.
To make matters worse, Jeremiah still isn’t at full strength either because Cadmus tortured him after he let Kara and Mon-El go after they were captured and his right hand suffered serious nerve damage. Still, Jeremiah is back and his family can’t wait to give him a special welcome home dinner later that night while Winn searches for a heat signature similar to Supergirl’s that would allow them to find the signature for the bomb.
Through all of this, Mon-El is keeping a close eye on Jeremiah because he’s just not buying that his return was so timely when a bomb is about to explode in National City.
Secrets and Lies
Later that night at dinner, Jeremiah spends time with his family including his introduction to Maggie as Alex’s girlfriend. Jeremiah also has a heart-to-heart with his wife Eliza, who explains that this will be a starting over point for them because there’s no doubt they’ve both changed a lot over the past 15 years and they need to get to know each other again.
As dinner begins, everybody is excited to have Jeremiah back and even J’onn is happy to welcome his return to the DEO with full credentials pending a psyche evaluation. None of this is sitting well with Mon-El, who still can’t believe that Jeremiah is back without any strings attached to him from the 15 years he spent as a Cadmus soldier. A prison cell can sometimes become home over time and Mon-El is concerned that Jeremiah’s return could be compromised.
None of this sits too well with Kara, who throws Mon-El out of the dinner for suggesting that her adopted father may be working for the enemy who kidnapped him and kept him away from them for most of her life. Jeremiah ends up escorting Mon-El out of the party before passing along a stern warning that he needs to keep his distance because if Kara finds out his big secret, she would not be happy.
What is Mon-El’s secret? That’s apparently a story for another day.

On his first day back at the DEO, Jeremiah is happy to work alongside his daughters but Mon-El still can’t trust that his return isn’t tainted by lies. Mon-El ends up recruiting Winn to help keep an eye on Jeremiah to see if he’s been up to any thing suspicious upon his return to the DEO.
Winn eventually spots Jeremiah breaking into the DEO mainframe and accessing several classified files. When Mon-El confronts Jeremiah with this information, he says that he was just looking back on old case files to see what his girls have been up to while working together at the DEO andt his was just his way to catch up and feel like he’s been part of their lives.
Winn his activity and confirms that Jeremiah has only been going through old case files relating to Alex and Kara. Alex is furious that Winn and Mon-El tried to discredit her dad but now even Kara is starting to feel where there’s smoke, some fire can’t be far behind.
Her curiosity will have to wait after Winn finally captures a heat signature that matches Supergirl, which means they’ve found the nuclear fusion bomb.
The team races off to the warehouse where the bomb was found, but the entire thing was a set up because after arriving and finding out that no one was inside, Jeremiah finally unleashes his true nature after he breaks into the DEO mainframe again and this time he’s stealing files. When J’onn can’t read his mind, he knows something much more sinister is happening here.
After J’onn confronts him, Jeremiah shows off the physical enhancements that have been added after showing off his new biomechanical arm that punches right through the Martian Manhunter. Jeremiah finishes his file transfer, grabs the hard drive and makes his escape to reunite with Cadmus.
For the Cause
Everybody is heartbroken to learn that Jeremiah really was a double agent, but nobody is more upset than Alex, who stuck up for her father this entire time. Thankfully, Winn’s suspicions being raised by Mon-El convinced him to put a tracker on Jeremiah and it’s not long before they track him down after he’s reunited with Cadmus including Lillian Luthor and the real Hank Henshaw.
A fight ensues, but this has also been carefully plotted out as a bridge was rigged with explosives that forces Supergirl to fly off and save the day. Jeremiah is able to slip away to get free when Alex can’t bring herself to shoot her own father. With J’onn still recovering from prior injuries, Cadmus escapes and now the rest of the DEO is left to wonder what it was Jeremiah stole from them.
While Alex cries on Maggie’s shoulder and Kara does the same with Mon-El, a call comes in that identifies the files that were stolen from the DEO computers. Winn reports that Jeremiah took the entire alien registry, which gives him names and locations for every visitor on Earth that is known by the DEO.
Back at Cadmus, Lillian thanks Jeremiah for his service although it’s clear the agenda was much bigger than just him returning home to dupe his daughters and steal information. It certainly seems like Jeremiah completed this task under some amount of duress or at least the promise that his family wouldn’t be harmed in return for his cooperation. Either way, Lillian finally unveils a gigantic ship powered by the reactor fueled by the energy stolen from Supergirl.
It appears that Cadmus has a new plan to wipe out the aliens and now Jeremiah Danvers has gotten them one step closer to turning that into reality.
‘Supergirl’ returns with a brand new episode next Monday night at 8pm ET on the CW.
