‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 finally has a debut date as revealed on Thursday…
‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 will finally debut on HBO on Sunday, July 16.
The news was revealed during a live Facebook chat on Thursday.
It took a little while longer than expected for the date to be revealed as the live video on the ‘Game of Thrones’ Facebook page featured a gigantic block of ice concealing the big reveal as fire came in from all sides trying to melt it. Unfortunately, the melting process seemed to take a little longer than expected.
The return of ‘Game of Thrones’ will undoubtedly be one of the most anticipated shows of the year as the series goes into its final two seasons on the air.
‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 only contains seven episodes unlike all the previous seasons, which had 10 total episodes. The shortened length of the season was done in coordination with show runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss as they begin moving towards the end of the series in 2018.
As of now, tentative plans have ‘Game of Thrones’ season 8 capping at six total episodes to wrap up the ultra popular series based on the books from author George R.R. Martin.
When ‘Game of Thrones’ season 6 came to an end, Daenerys Targaryen was sailing from her previous home in Meereen to return home to Westeros where she looks to conquer the Iron Throne and reclaim her family’s dynasty. In the north, Jon Snow was crowned the new ‘King in the North’ after he helped lead a rebellion that defeated the Bolton’s and retook Winterfell in the name of the Stark family. That coronation didn’t sit too well with Lord Petyr Baelish, who had designs on capturing the throne himself alongside Sansa Stark.
And north of the Wall, the Night King is still gathering his troops as the war between the living and the dead continues to simmer until an undoubtedly explosive war ensues at some point between ‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 and season 8.
