The first look at ‘True Detective’ season 3 has arrived with the show set to return to HBO in January…
A police case that floats between the past and the present will be the focus of ‘True Detective’ season 3, which will debut on HBO in January 2019.
On Sunday, the first teaser trailer for the show debuted with a look at Oscar winner Mahershala Ali in the starring role as Detective Wayne Hays.
The latest installment of the anthology series is “the story of a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods.”
The first season of ‘True Detective’ was hailed both critically and commercially with stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson being nominated for numerous awards. Unfortunately, ‘True Detective’ season 2 didn’t do nearly as well and there was doubt that the show would continue into a third season.
Finally, HBO decided to give it another go with creator Nic Pizzolatto penning the entire season minus one episode he worked on alongside ‘Deadwood’ creator David Milch, who also served as a consultant on the show.
