Add another ‘Smallville’ alum to the upcoming ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ crossover as Erica Durance will return as Lois Lane…
‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ continues adding guest stars and now another ‘Smallville’ alum is joining Tom Welling in the massive crossover event series.
Erica Durance — who played Lois Lane on ‘Smallville’ opposite Welling for several seasons — will be making an appearance during the upcoming crossover that kicks off on December 8 on ‘Supergirl’ and then wraps up in 2020 with the finale airing during back-to-back episodes of ‘Arrow’ and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ on January 14.
Earlier this week it was announced that Welling would be returning to play Superman again after he played that part for 10 seasons on ‘Smallville’. When the show wrapped in 2011, Durance was playing his longtime love interest and ace reporter Lois Lane.
Since that time, Durance has actually returned to the CW to portray Alura — mother to Kara Zor-El on ‘Supergirl’ — but there’s no word if she’ll be pulling double duty for the upcoming crossover. Brandon Routh is already taking on two roles as he plays Ray Palmer aka the Atom on ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ but he will also be suiting up as the Man of Steel as he reprises the role he played in the film ‘Superman Returns’.
Durance returning leaves only a few major names remaining from ‘Smallville’ who could still potentially join the crossover including Michael Rosenbaum, who portrayed Lex Luthor on the series. There’s no word if more cast members from the show will join the crossover or if Durance and Welling will be the only representation from ‘Smallville’.
‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ will play a major role on all of the CW series when the shows return in October, all leading to the huge crossover event kicking off in December.
