There will be “A Quiet Place” sequel in 2023 but this is not expected to follow the same family from the original films as a new director leads the project…
“A Quiet Place” sequel is scheduled for release on March 31, 2023 but this time John Krasinski will not be behind the camera.
Instead, Jeff Nichols — best known for his work on films such as “Loving” and “Mud” — will be taking over directorial duties for his take on “A Quiet Place” with an “idea” from Krasinski for the movie.
While this film is in very early development, the expectation is that this won’t serve as a direct sequel to the first two movies but rather spinoff into a new direction for the franchise.
What that means exactly is still unknown but it appears based on early information that this movie won’t involve the same characters or at least focus primarily on the Abbott family, which have been the focal point for the other two films in the series.
There was talk quite some time ago about building a larger universe for “A Quiet Place” as a franchise but this will now become the first film in the series without Krasinski’s direct involvement after he served as a director and co-writer for both of the original movies.
For now, let the speculation begin on what Nichols has planned for his film with the third “A Quiet Place” film already slated for a 2023 release date.
