Jensen Ackles is officially suited up as Soldier Boy and here’s the first look at the character who will debut during “The Boys” season 3…

There’s a lot to look forward to when “The Boys” season 3 finally debuts but one of the most highly anticipated additions to the cast was “Supernatural” star Jensen Ackles joining as Soldier Boy.

Now the first look at Ackles in his Soldier Boy costume has finally been revealed.

“When I cast Jensen as Soldier Boy, the first thing I said was, ‘I’m most excited for you, because of the amazing process you’ll go through with LJ, our Super Suit designer,'” showrunner Eric Kripke said about the big reveal. “It took six months but the experience surpassed Jensen’s expectations.

“LJ has made a work of art that tips its hat to the WWII Soldier Boy from the comics, while taking it in a sleek new direction. And if you think the photos are cool, just wait till you see Jensen in action. It’s one of my very favorite suits.”

You win! Here! You can quit clogging my notifications! This is one of my very favorite suits, designed by the genius @ljsupersuits. While his origin story might change slightly, Soldier Boy in “The Boys” comics was one of the original superheroes created by Vought while using an early formula for Compound V. Soldier Boy fought during World War II reportedly “killing Germans by the dozen” while also becoming one of the first celebrity superheroes.

In many ways, Soldier Boy was Homelander before Homelander was created.

Of course in the comics, Soldier Boy is a little more unsure of himself as he teams up with other heroes in a group called Payback, which is the second most powerful team behind The Seven. In that team, Soldier Boy typically plays second string to Stormfront, who is the leader but we already know that character has come and gone out in a fiery blaze in “The Boys” television series.

There’s also another infamous piece of history involving Soldier Boy where he actually has sex with Homelander thinking that will get him admission to The Seven but things don’t go quite as planned for him.

Obviously there will be some changes to Soldier Boy in the series much like Stormfront was actually a male in the comics and then the character was played brilliantly by Aya Cash during “The Boys” season 2.

Right now there are very few details surrounding Soldier Boy’s inclusion during season 3 because Kripke had previously teased that the character would help “tell a little bit about the history of America and how we ended up in the current fraught position that we’re in… Soldier Boy gives us an opportunity to do that” so it’s possible there will be flashbacks to his initial introduction.

Then again we know from Stormfront’s inclusion last season that she was also born in the early 1900s and lived all the way until present day without aging much at all after receiving her dose of Compound V.

Regardless, Ackles’ addition to the cast is just one piece to a bigger puzzle that will begin to come together when “The Boys” season 3 finally debuts. The series is currently in production in Toronto but there’s no word yet when the show will return on Amazon Prime.
