The upcoming Marvel series on Netflix will begin production in July with Daredevil and each show has received at least a 13 episode commitment from Disney….
Marvel, Disney and the city of New York will partner together for filming the new Netflix series that will pick up production in July before the shows start appearing later this year. The first show up for production is Daredevil, which will film in New York under the leadership of show runner Drew Goddard.
According to Marvel and Disney officials in a press conference held on Wednesday, the mouse house has committed at least $200 million to the upcoming series, which will focus on Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist as well as a companion miniseries about the entire group called The Defenders.
Marvel has committed to at least 13 episodes of each series along with a four to eight episode commitment for The Defenders series, which will bring all four characters together similar to The Avengers, which is another major franchise from Disney and Marvel.
The filming done in New York City will bring in 400 new full time jobs as well ass 3000 part time production jobs for those working on the sets and as part of the crew for the upcoming TV series.
Daredevil will be the first series in production followed by Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and then Luke Cage.
There has been no official announcement when the series will debut on Netflix as of yet.
