From the pages of a mythical textbook, the newest series of Harry Potter related films will come to life as a series of three films under the watchful eye of creator JK Rowling….
It was announced late last year that the Harry Potter spinoff book ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’, which is a textbook mentioned a few times during the original Potter series, would be turned into a film sometime in the near future from Warner Bros.
Now it appears like The Hobbit before it, creator JK Rowling and the powers that be at Warner Bros have decided to take the one textbook (that doesn’t actually exist in full form) and turn it into a trilogy of films because that makes total sense.
Kevin Tsujihara, Warner Bros CEO, revealed in a feature by the New York Times that the new Potter spinoff focused on ‘magizoologist’ Newt Scamander would be a series of three films, although an expected release date has not be discussed at this time.
Rowling will work directly on the project, but don’t expect much crossover with the Harry Potter universe already seen in films before — this series takes place almost a century before the events that unfold with Potter and his fellow students growing up at Hogwarts.
Maybe the films will turn into true masterpieces, but it seems a bit much to take one very small piece of the Harry Potter universe and turn it into three movies if not for the money that will surely roll in from the project. Either way, Potter fans will be happy to see the wizarding world come back to life on the big screen for a few more years to come.
