After months of speculation, the full cast for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII has been released ahead of Star Wars Day on May 4…
For months, everybody has known that the original cast members of Star Wars would be returning for the upcoming sequel from director J.J. Abrams titled ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ but the additions with new actors and actresses joining the cast has remained a mystery.
Until now…
On Tuesday in a quick announcement via the Star Wars website, the entire cast for the upcoming Star Wars movie was revealed although the roles for each particular actor or actress was not listed.
The new additions to the Star Wars: Episode VII universe include:
Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow — they join the original cast returning for the movie including — Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.
“We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again,” Abrams said in the release. “We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”
The one role of the actors that’s already been revealed is that of ‘Girls’ star Adam Driver, who will apparently play the new big bad in the Star Wars universe. His affiliation or association with the Galactic Empire or potentially the Sith is unknown at this time, but he’s expected to play the featured villain in at least the newest Star Wars film.
John Boyega is best known for his role in the film ‘Attack the Block’, Daisy Ridley is a new star having recently played a small part in the PBS series ‘Mr. Selfridge’, Oscar Issac known for his role in ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’, Andy Serkis, who played Golem/Smeagol in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ movies as well as Caesar in the upcoming ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’, Domhnall Gleeson played Bill Weasley in the ‘Harry Potter’ series of films, and Max von Sydow, best known Father Merrin from ‘The Exorcist’.
Filming begins in London soon for Star Wars: Episode VII with a release date in theaters on December 18, 2015
