While the majority of ‘Star Wars Episode VII’ will be filmed in London, the cast and crew are currently in Abu Dhabi using the desert area for scenes set on Luke Skywalker’s home planet of Tatooine…
Rumors have circled for a while now that ‘Star Wars Episode VII’ would head back to the desert planet of Tatooine, which served as the home for characters such as Luke Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker and Jabba the Hutt. Now director J.J. Abrams has released a new video confirming the filming location while also offering up a special contest for Star Wars fans.
The contest, which benefits UNICEF, runs from May 21-July 18 and for a donation as little as $10 it gets you entered into the drawing for a walk on role on ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’. The prize package includes:
• Airfare and accommodations to London for one winner and a guest
• Behind-the-scenes access on the closed set of Star Wars: Episode VII as VIP guests of J.J. Abrams
• Winner will have the opportunity to meet members of the cast
• Winner and their guest will then be transformed by makeup and costume teams into a Star Wars character and filmed for a scene in Star Wars: Episode VII
The cool part about the contest that instead of auctioning off a role to some billionaire who could afford it, this contest gives anyone who donates as little as $10 a chance to walk away with the grand prize and appear in the new Star Wars movie.
