It’s been two days of upheavals at Marvel because less than 24 hours after Edgar Wright got the boot from directing ‘Ant-Man’ there’s also been a change for the new Netflix series ‘Daredevil’….
Drew Goddard — best known for his work on the quirky horror/comedy ‘Cabin in the Woods’ as well as writing duties on ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ — will no longer head up the team for the new ‘Daredevil’ TV series coming to Netflix later this year.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Goddard has dropped out of the project and will instead focus on his next endeavor, writing and directing the new Sinister Six movie from Sony.
In his place steps fell ‘Buffy’ alum Steven DeKnight, who will take over show running duties for the show once his deal with Marvel is finalized.
DeKnight worked on both ‘Buffy’ and ‘Angel’ under the leadership of show creator Joss Whedon while also working on his next series, Dollhouse, as well. DeKnight most recently acted as show runner on the Starz original series ‘Spartacus’ as well as a stint on the CW’s ‘Smallville’.
Casting and production for ‘Daredevil’ are expected to pick up this summer with a debut date still to be announced from Netflix.
