The buzz surrounding the second season of HBO’s ‘True Detective’ continues to grow following the latest news that there will be three leads on the show as well as taking place in California…
‘True Detective’ season 2 will likely be one of the most highly anticipated shows of 2015 following a stellar freshman year from the HBO anthology series under the guidance of show creator Nic Pizzolatto.
With speculation running wild about the stars for next season including rumors started and dashed about Jessica Chastain’s possible involvement with the show, Pizzolatto recently revealed some details about the new season while speaking to the radio show ‘To The Best of Our Knowledge“.
While season one featured Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in the lead roles, which had everybody assuming future seasons would also feature two actors/actresses in the leads for the show, the ‘True Detective’ creator now says season 2 will feature an increase with a third lead actor being added to the bunch.
In the same interview, Pizzolatto also confirmed that the new season will take place in California, although the setting will not be Los Angeles.
“We’re working with three leads,” Pizzolatto revealed. “It takes place in California — not Los Angeles, but some of the much lesser known venues of California — and we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place, much like we did in season one.”
With Chastain already confirming that she will not be a part of the show, casting rumors will fire up again not only because there will be three leads on the new season instead of two, but Pizzolatto said that with the scripts finished and production set to start relatively soon, now it’s a matter of finding the right people to fill the roles.
“The characters are all new, but I’m deeply in love with each of them,” Pizzolatto said. “We’ve got the entire series broken out with a couple of scripts, and we’ll probably start casting in earnest in the coming months.”
Can you smell the psychosphere from here? Because we can’t wait for True Detective to return to TV screens sooner rather than later.
