Marvel is moving forward with a ‘Dr. Strange’ movie and a deal seems imminent for a director best known for his work in the horror genre…
Marvel is adding another hero to its already impressive list of films as ‘Dr. Strange’ will get the film treatment very soon, and now the comic book and movie giant has settled on a director.
Scott Derrickson — best known for his work in writing horror films such as ‘The Exorcism of Emily Rose’ and ‘Sinister’ — has been tapped to direct the new project at Marvel according to a report from Variety. While contracts have not be signed, a deal to bring on Derrickson appears to be close and should happen any day now.
‘Dr. Strange’ has been talked about at Marvel for several years, but now the movie is becoming a reality with Derrickson on board to direct.
Dr. Strange follows the story of Dr. Stephen Strange, who is the protector of Earth from all mystical and magical threats, and first appeared as far back at 1963’s ‘Strange Tales’ from Marvel Comics.
In more recent years, Strange has been a major part of The Avengers story lines so he could end up being a big player in the third Avengers film, which is expected to bow sometime around 2018.
