There have been rumors for months now that Jason Momoa would be playing a role in an upcoming DC movie and it appears he will play Aquaman…
The upcoming ‘Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ film is expected to be a prequel of sorts to an eventual move into a full fledged Justice League movie from DC and Warner Bros. so it should come as no surprise than more and more characters seem to be added to the cast everyday.
The latest one confirmed via a report from Hitfix is that ‘Game of Thrones’ star Jason Momoa — long rumored to play a part in the Batman V. Superman film — will portray Arthur Curry aka Aquaman in the movie.
Now according to the report, Momoa’s portrayal of Aquaman won’t be a major part in the film, much like Gal Gadot playing Wonder Woman isn’t supposed to get significant screen time compared to Batman (Ben Affleck) or Superman (Henry Cavill) but his appearance will set up a part in the future Justice League movie.
The plot of the new film is expected to serve as a follow up to the conclusion of ‘Man of Steel’ where the world has discovered Superman after his city destroying battle with General Zod. The idea (as we know it) is that several forces including Lex Luthor and Batman start looking into Superman’s existence and whether or not he’s a help or a hindrance to Earth’s greater good.
Aquaman would also be joining the skeptic side after the oceans were affected during Zod’s attempt to drill through the Earth in the first movie.
Again, nothing has been announced by Warner Bros. but with this rumor now out there expect something to be revealed in the coming weeks if Momoa is indeed playing Aquaman.
