It’s not very often that a show is renewed before the first season ever airs but AMC is doubling down on the ‘Breaking Bad’ spinoff ‘Better Call Saul’…
With production underway to the highly anticipated series ‘Better Call Saul’ from the same creators who brought you ‘Breaking Bad’, the series has been picked up for season two without season one even airing yet!
AMC announced on Thursday in addition to the 10 episode order for season one, a second season of 13 episodes has been ordered as well for the upcoming show by ‘Breaking Bad’ creator Vince Gilligan and head writer/show runner Peter Gould.
“Production on Better Call Saul is underway and we could not be more proud of nor more excited about the work to date. We join the fans in eager anticipation for this series and today we happily confirm that our initial Saul order is for two seasons and a total of 23 episodes,” AMC president Charlie Collier said in a statement. “When introducing any series, especially one with the DNA of Breaking Bad, there are countless factors to consider in making sure the show gets the launch it deserves. We have a strong history with Vince, Peter, Bob, the studio and so many involved with this production; we are enjoying the process on ‘Saul’ and all share a focus on making it a true television event. No half measures.”
The show was originally set to debut in November 2014, but now the series will hit airwaves a few months later with the premiere date expected for early 2015.
