Veteran actor Scoot McNairy has joined the cast of ‘Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ in a mystery role but could he be playing Superman’s faithful sidekick Jimmy Olsen or another member of The Justice League?
The latest casting news for ‘Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ has Scoot McNairy joining the film in a mystery role according to the good folks at Deadline. McNairy has starred in several well known projects including his run on the current AMC show ‘Halt and Catch Fire’ as well as one of the featured actors in ‘Argo’ where he worked alongside current co-star Ben Affleck.
Warner Bros. has been hush-hush about McNairy’s role since the rumor was first reported on Thursday, neither confirming or commenting on what part he could be playing in the film.
Now at 36-years of age, McNairy is a little older than the part would have originally called for, but is there a chance he’s playing Jimmy Olsen in the new film? Or what about another member of The Justice League making a cameo appearance in the film.
The first ‘Man of Steel’ film briefly mentioned a Jimmy Olsen character, but never actually showed him on screen. McNairy’s look could certainly fit the part of Clark Kent’s faithful sidekick at the Daily Planet.
Then again, McNairy is a well respected actor, who has played opposite some fairly heavy hitters during his career so could he possibly be playing another member of The Justice League that will pop up in at least a cameo role? So far we know Wonder Woman, Cyborg and Aquaman are all set to appear in one form or fashion in the upcoming film.
That means roles for The Green Lantern (pick which member but most likely Hal Jordan) and The Flash (Barry Allen) are also up for grabs if Warner Bros really is going in for the full Justice League movie after Batman V. Superman wraps. He also starred in ‘Gone Girl’, which is the next major project from Affleck as a director so there’s little chance McNairy is joining the cast as a bit player. He’ll likely have a major role but which one will it be?
