‘Agents of SHIELD’ returns this fall to ABC with an expanded cast as a few new members were announced on Friday including an iconic Marvel character…
One of the best parts of the first season of ‘Agents of SHIELD’ was the way the show quietly incorporated many characters from the Marvel Universe into the show. It seems that same idea is extending into season 2 with some of the announcements made on Friday during the show’s second appearance at San Diego Comic Con.
At the top of the list was the character Barbara Morse — best known as Mockingbird — who was once upon time referred to as Agent 19 in SHIELD. She is a character that’s been around the comic book universe since 1971 and at one time was actually married to Clint Barton aka Hawkeye. At this time while the character will be introduced in season 2, no casting for the part has taken place.
Also confirmed on Friday — Lucy Lawless will indeed be joining the cast of ‘Agents of SHIELD’ as SHIELD agent Isabelle Hartley. Nick Blood will join the show as Lance Hunter, who Marvel fans likely know as the leader of S.T.R.I.K.E., the British counterpart to SHIELD.
And last but not least, Reed Diamond (best known as one of Joss Whedon’s actors in past parts such as ‘Dollhouse’ and ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ will join the show as Daniel Whitehall, a HYDRA bad guy also known as the Kraken. In the comics, Whitehall was the HYDRA agent in charge of finding and training new recruits, often times working in human trafficking while molding victims into the ultimate weapons that could be used for the sinister group.
‘Agents of SHIELD’ will return on ABC this fall with all new episodes.
