‘Suicide Squad’ from DC Comics and Warner Bros. has cast Viola Davis to play Amanda Waller in the upcoming film…
Viola Davis — best known for her role in ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ — has been added to the cast of the ‘Suicide Squad’ film from DC Comics and Warner Bros. studios.
Davis joins an all star cast of characters already set for the upcoming movie including Will Smith, who plays Deadshot, Jared Leto, who plays The Joker and Margot Robbie, who plays Harley Quinn.
Davis will play iconic DC character Amanda Waller, who is the government recruiter who forms The Suicide Squad as a group cobbled together out of super villains and ex-cons, sent on dangerous missions where many of them are not expected to survive, but those that do are given pardons and freedom from past crimes.
The character has appeared on a couple different DC related TV shows including Pam Grier playing her on ‘Smallville’ while Cynthia Addai-Robinson portrays her on ‘Arrow’.
‘Suicide Squad’ will hit theaters on August 5, 2016 with pre-production on the project already underway.
