In a bit of shocking news on a Friday afternoon, Josh Trank — best known for his work on the film ‘Chronicle’ as well as the ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot — has officially dropped out of directing an upcoming ‘Star Wars’ spinoff film due out in 2018.
Trank was joining Gareth Edwards, who is directing the movie ‘Star Wars: Rogue One, for the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ spinoff films.
Now he’s officially out after saying he wanted “to pursue some original creative opportunities.”
Disney has not made a statement about Trank’s exit or the timetable on a potential replacement for him.
