Despite a major role in the second ‘Captain America’ movie and ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, Samuel L Jackson won’t appear in ‘Captain America: Civil War’….
Ever since the launch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Samuel L. Jackson has had a major part in several of the movies while playing S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury.
He played a pivotal role in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ and popped back on the radar again to help save the day in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’.
But it appears Jackson won’t be back for the third film in the ‘Captain America’ franchise currently filming in Georgia.
Jackson said recently that while he’s hopeful to re-up his deal with Marvel and appear in more films, he’s not on the cast list for ‘Captain America: Civil War’ due out on May 6, 2016.
“I’m not in Captain America 3,” Jackson said. “I can’t figure that out, but I’m not. I guess I’m still out there, trying to figure out what happened to S.H.I.E.L.D. and who these other people are.
“Of course [I’m interested in returning]. I’m looking for a contract extension right now, yeah. I’m looking to re-up.”
‘Captain America: Civil War’ is expected to pit the patriotic hero against Iron Man in a story line that will see hero against hero in a major battle that will change the course of the Marvel Universe forever.
As for Jackson, there’s no word on when or where Fury will appear next although there are a laundry list of Marvel films slated for release in the next few years so chances are he’ll be popping up sooner rather than later.
