San Diego Comic Con’s annual Saturday movie heavy day in Hall H just got a little less crowded as Marvel will officially not be attending this year’s event…
A few months ago ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ director James Gunn said on Twitter that he wasn’t sure if he’d be attending San Diego Comic Con in 2015 because Marvel wasn’t going to be there.
Like a bolt of lightning from Thor’s mighty Mjolnir, fans from around the world let out a collective sigh because Marvel tends to put on one of the most highly anticipated panels of the entire convention. From Robert Downey Jr’s grand entrances to Tom Hiddleston showing up dressed as Loki to cast announcements and everything in between, Marvel has been the can’t miss panel in Hall H for the last few years.
But with no major movies currently in production outside of ‘Captain America: Civil War’, which just began shooting this month and no casting announcements to be made, Marvel will forgo the big panel presentation at this year’s San Diego Comic Con according to Deadline.
With Marvel out of the running for a major presence in Hall H, the door is now wide open for Warner Bros. and DC Comics to steal the spotlight as they will likely unveil footage from ‘Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ as well as ‘Suicide Squad’ which both open next year.
The Warner Bros. panel could also introduce cast members for any number of upcoming projects including ‘Wonder Woman’ or possibly even the ‘Justice League’ movie planned for the future.
Either way this is a huge stage for Warner Bros. and DC to shine with Marvel not competing for the fan’s attention at San Diego Comic Con this July.
